Last Call: NYC Game Design Future Lab, Cohort 2 Applications Close August 9th 2026 at 11:59PM

If you’ve been sitting on an application to the NYC Game Design Future Lab (GDFL), this is your heads-up: applications for the second cohort are closing TONIGHT, and it’s worth getting in before the window shuts.
What it is: GDFL is NYU Tandon’s 12-month, in-person incubator for NYC game studios and creative technology companies, run in partnership with NYCEDC. It’s free — no equity taken — and comes with co-working space at 370 Jay St in Downtown Brooklyn, structured programming, mentorship, and direct introductions to investors, publishers, and industry partners.
What’s new this round: Cohort 2 is expanding from six companies to eight, and opening up beyond just game studios to include two tracks:
– Game Studios — any genre, platform, or audience
– Game Platform & Creative Technology Companies — dev tools, player-facing tech, or XR/AR/VR platforms
Who it’s for: This isn’t a first-timer incubator — GDFL wants teams past the “just starting out” stage. Typically that means you’ve shipped a commercial product, are about to, or have clear market validation. (If you’re earlier than that, the NYU Game Center Incubator is the better fit for now — and GDFL will still be there for a future cohort.)
The ask: At least one founder needs to live full-time in NYC, be available for in-person Pitch Day on September 3, and be able to commit to the full 12-month in-person program starting November 2, 2026.
